I've relocated to Calgary & believe it or not I got an offer on the second day of my arrival !!! Let's not forget 'right time, right place'.

I'm pretty busy settling down & going through hiring procedure so unfortunately can't tell a lot about my experience with this mentoring group. I may write you more about that in the coming weeks.

Briefly I liked it, benefited & learned a lot in the group. Our mentor Mr. Saeed Ziaee is a professional with very positive character. He's a very good choice for being a mentor in this project.

It was a very good idea to put together professionals and a mentor from the same nationality. It gave us many options to discuss situations more. Above that, since the mentors were from the same profession, we had the opportunity to talk about our resumes & interviews from a different aspect. He shared his experience with us and did whatever he could to make us pull ourselves together and go for it.

 

 

 

 

I We want to take a moment to offer our thanks to Mentoring Services at IC Network. We are pleased that we attended such a program which was useful for us. Mr. Sotoadeh and Mr. Zereshkian did their best in helping us to be more familiar with job market in Canada and gave us this chance to attend two courses which ended up to getting two valuable certificates needed for construction field. Regarding Networking; we found some good connections. Unfortunately, they did not have any openings at that time, but we hope they will be useful for future.

Group mentoring especially helped us and encouraged us to make our decision with respect to continuing education (Ph.D. program) and hopefully after receiving the admission from university, we are planning to relocate to Montreal. Over there, the job market is not good at all (especially for people who do not speak French at all), and again we have to start our networking from beginning. We hope every thing goes well and we will be able to get the admission and settle down in Montreal. It is just the beginning!

We hope that this program continues and other newcomers in our community take advantage of this program; however, like any other new program, it needs some improvement to be useful for all mentees attending.

 

 

 

 

IC-network program is very good for newcomer to Canada. It gave me SELF-CONFIDENCE and taught me to be OPTIMISTIC to find a job. As you know I got a job and from next week or first of Sept. I will start to work.
